Tempok Pelendong Ang – Shima Sidek

This two-part photo book features a photo essay and portraits by Shima Sidek, and is authored and produced by Jeffrey Lim. Shima is from the indigenous Jakun community and is a graduate of Fine Arts. Her work is a reflection and commentary on the social politics of the indigenous communities in Peninsular Malaysia. Tempok Pelendong Ang is both an ode to the indigenous headdress, and a voyage of self-discovery through the act of weaving. The front and back covers of the books are hand-weaved. The book is recorded in the Jakun Language, translated to English and traditional Chinese scripts.
